Rolled out the Field Engineer App on a fleet of ruggedized Android tablets (CAT S62 pros). Great in the office. In the field, techs report ~55% battery drop over a 6-hour shift, mostly with the app in the background. GPS is on for routing but I've verified the sample rate is at the default 30s. Anyone tuned this? Willing to trade some routing precision for a technician who makes it to the end of the shift.

Bump GPS sample interval to 60s (Settings → Field App → Location). Cut our drain by roughly 20%. The routing is unaffected — we recalculate on route deviation, not on sample tick.

Also — check whether photo upload is happening on cellular. Ours was, and each install photo (~4 MB) chews battery on the upload. Setting to Wi-Fi-only + queued upload at office return dropped drain another 15%.
