NOS 1.2 · Aurora is now generally available. Highlights: conversational NOC in 24 languages, cluster-aware installer for Core X100, per-tenant AI budget controls, and signed Subscriber App builds for iOS and Android stores. Upgrade docs are up in /docs — TL;DR if you're on 1.1 LTS you can hop straight to 1.2 without a fresh install. Please drop upgrade reports and any bugs in this thread.
Sharing a playbook we've been running for six weeks. Symptom: ACS worker processes on our X20 occasionally stall after ONT firmware pushes — usually 2-3 workers out of 32. Manual fix was systemctl restart nos-acs@N. We wrote a playbook in NOS that watches worker health, restarts the affected process, and logs the event to the ticket. AI catches it in about 40 seconds. Down from a 20-minute pager cycle. Happy to share the playbook YAML if there's interest.
We're planning a rollout across three cities: about 12k, 10k and 8k subscribers respectively, all on GPON. Docs suggest X5 tops out at 50k subs, but I'd like to hear from anyone actually running >25k on one. What's your CPU headroom look like, and did you enable failover to a second X5 or run standalone? Also curious about RAM sizing — we're planning to add IPTV in year 2.
Trying to move off password auth to EAP-TLS for our PPPoE sessions. NMM's RADIUS speaks it fine in lab but I'm nervous about MikroTik RB4011 handling client-cert exchanges at scale (we have ~14k active sessions). Anyone tried this at 10k+? What's the CPU cost look like on the router side, and did you have to bump timeouts? Also curious if the AI Engine's cert-rotation playbook is worth turning on from day 1.
We're on 1.1.7 LTS with a single X5 (no failover partner). Docs recommend the cluster-aware installer but that assumes >1 node. Question: has anyone done the in-place upgrade to 1.2 on a lone X5, and if so how long was the control-plane blip? The data plane keeps forwarding I believe, but our billing runs against the control plane every 15 min and I want to make sure I schedule around it.
Small operator, ~380 subscribers, running on a self-built server (Xeon E-2378, 64 GB, dual 1G NIC bond). NOS Community activated fine. Wondering if anyone else is running under the 500-sub cap in production and whether you hit any features you'd wish were unlocked. Considering the Standard bump when we cross ~450.
REST endpoints are great for straight CRUD but for our board-pack pipeline we're stitching 6-8 calls per report. A GraphQL surface (even just for read operations) would collapse this to one query. Anyone on the Netxol team looked at this? Happy to help scope if it's on the roadmap.
Got a fresh X1 in yesterday, went to plug in and license, and it hangs at 'Activating NOS Foundation' after license entry. Web UI doesn't load. Docs say to check the serial console but I don't have a working USB-C-to-DE9 adapter yet. Any pointers on getting to a shell so I can grab logs? Also — is there a well-known port pinout for the console? I'd like to just wire something up.
