Netxol Billing vs Sonar Software: WISP / FTTH billing on the ISP graph

Sonar Software has emerged as a modern OSS/BSS for WISPs and FTTH ISPs, particularly in the North American market. It is a competent SaaS with strong billing, ticketing and inventory. Netxol Billing overlaps with it — but the operating model is different.

Sonar is cloud-hosted; Netxol runs on the operator's own Core appliance. Sonar is priced per subscriber; Netxol per appliance tier. Sonar is polished but standalone-billing-first; Netxol is one part of a platform that includes NMM (with ACS + OLT), CRM, ERP, AI Engine and the Subscriber App.

When Sonar is still the right call

Sonar is a natural fit for a North-American WISP that wants a polished SaaS with fast onboarding and no infrastructure. If your operating context requires on-premise data residency, or you need mobile-wallet collection (JazzCash, EasyPaisa) inside the subscriber app, Netxol is the better shape.

The on-premise vs cloud decision, honestly

Sonar is SaaS. Netxol is on-premise. Both models have real virtues. Cloud lowers ops overhead; on-premise gives data residency, works without wide-area dependency, and — critically for Pakistani ISPs — puts the platform inside the operator regulatory boundary. See the [Netxol Core hardware line](/products/core) for the appliance model.

When Sonar remains the right call

A North American WISP that wants no on-prem infrastructure and does not need JazzCash / EasyPaisa is a natural Sonar fit. Netxol is aimed elsewhere — see the [Zalpro comparison](/blog/netxol-vs-zalpro).
